An International Outreach to Help You Overcome Social Anxiety Disorder. The Social Anxiety Institute is the only treatment center in the world that specializes solely in social anxiety disorder. We are in our nineteenth year of service to the social anxiety community. Therapy programs operate continuously throughout the year and we have an international outreach. People from twenty-seven other countries have come to the Social Anxiety Institute for group treatment over the past fifteen years.
Do you react to social situations by becoming anxious? Are you highly self-conscious? Do you shrink away from being the center of attention? Do you feel other people view you negatively and are somehow judging you? Does the thought of making a public presentation cause high amounts of anxiety? Do you get anxious anticipating what you might have to do in the future? Do you feel you don't know how to mingle or have the right things to say at the right time? Is this anxiety related to social events? After you've done something, do you worry excessively about your performance and re-play it over and over again in your head? Do you beat yourself up by comparing yourself to other people? Is this anxiety a constant companion... does it happen to you every day?
Dr. Thomas A. Richards turned his practice, The Anxiety Clinic of Arizona, into The Social Anxiety Institute in 1999. Since reformulation as the Social Anxiety Institute, we have specialized in the treatment of social anxiety solely.
Everyone at the Social Anxiety Institute has lived through the nightmare of social anxiety and learned to overcome it. Dr. Richards suffered with a severe case of social anxiety until he was about 40. All of us at the Social Anxiety Institute understand you and can help you get better. Social Anxiety Disorder is the largest of the anxiety disorders, and the third largest mental health care problem in the world today, affecting almost 7% of the population. The Social Anxiety Institute helps people with social anxiety get better and move forward with life. Social anxiety is a fully treatable condition and can be overcome. Active, structured cognitive-behavioral therapy groups for social anxiety have been in progress since 1994.
All of the social anxiety "success stories" have been sent in by people who have been in the treatment program or have used the audio therapy series during the past fifteen years. These are unsolicited messages from people going through therapy groups at the Social Anxiety Institute, and people from around the world using the audio series "Overcoming Social Anxiety: Step by Step".
Currently, we have several social anxiety specialists at SAI working on different projects that will help the social anxiety community. The first major project will be finished later this year. We will also provide information and support for social anxiety therapy groups anywhere in the world as the first few projects are finished.
